Inherited Emptiness, 2017
Lighjet print on cotton Hahnemühle paper, 22 x 29 cm each (series of 3 + AP).

Glassware is considered a valued part of a house or, perhaps, of a home. According to Simone de Beauvoir, the home is the universe of women, which is why so much is devoted to perfecting it.

Empty crystal vases, flowerless, waterless: lifeless. What good is a vase if not used as a vessel for a flower? These vases symbolize frailty and the inner emptiness of the body of a woman that is not autonomous and not even in possession of her own body.

These monochromatic photographs of glassware that has been passed down from generation to generation simulate a drawing and they revisit this artistic technique as a search for an origin and accepting both vacuity and transparency.
