Pure White, 2017
Lightjet print on photographic paper, 100 x 66 cm (series of 3 + AP)
Two girls, 12 and 14 years old, were kidnapped by a truck driver on a highway in Estado de México. The truck driver sold them to a couple that deals in human trafficking. The girls could hear the transaction: the truck driver would deliver the two virgin girls to the couple and, in return, they would pay him one gram of pure cocaine for each girl.
This piece is an analogy between virginity —perceived as purity and represented by the color white— and the whiteness of cocaine.
It is also a reference to the piece White on White by Suprematist Kazimir Malevich.
